“After having lived in Ottawa. I would like to tell everyone that living in Ottawa is a guarantee that you will live in a clean and green city. I always see beautiful and scenic trails, walkways, running paths, and bike lanes all the way through. To be honest, I regret not having a bike because the most main roads having specific bike lanes, so cyclists can enjoy traffic-free commutes. Many Ottawa natives enjoy a healthy lifestyle, and can be seen jogging, cycling, or skating at all hours of the day.”

“Transportation in Ottawa is convenient and accessible, thanks to an efficient bus and light rail system. Nowadays, a standard fare is $3.75. A monthly ticket is $125.50, with discount rates for students and seniors. It very amazing that most of the main housing areas have a main bus route nearby. Driving in Ottawa is well organized and not prone to major traffic jams. Ottawa drivers are generally polite and patient because almost every car I saw would stop for pedestrians to cross the road first. Canadians drive on the right side of the road while the Thai drive on the left.”

“Many people here speak English and French. There are many services, including all civil services, some educational services, and many tourist services, that are offered in both English and French. When I walked the streets or go to cafes and bars, there was a definite French feel because French always can be heard spoken.”

“I suppose that Ottawa is the heart of Canadian political life, not because Ottawa is the capital city of Canada, but because Ottawa is the centre of the federal government. I have met many people who work with the government. It is very amazing to see how easily they can start a conversation about Canadian politics. It’s a pity that I always feel afraid of expressing my opinions and opening discussion about politics in my home country.”

“I loved some of Canada’s oldest and most beautiful buildings. In the autumn, I would always take a stroll along Sparks Street or Wellington Street in front of the Parliament building. The panoramic view of Ottawa was breathtaking.”

“Finally, my absolute favourite thing about living in Ottawa was the snow. Snow is such a wonderful thing! Even though the snow made my body cold, my heart was full and happy. The only thing that was quite difficult for me was eating, as I am not a fan of Canada’s foods. I prefer Thai food, so cooking Thai food was necessary for me, though I wasn’t the best at cooking. However, eating has become a very small aspect of living in Ottawa. Though my homemade foods weren’t the best, because of the atmosphere, people, buildings, and everything here, the taste of my food didn’t matter at all.”
